Gustaf Arrhenius
Gustaf Arrhenius is a Professor of Practical Philosophy at Stockholm University and the Director of the Institute for Futures Studies. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from University of Toronto and his FD in practical philosophy from Uppsala University. He is honorary professor at Aarhus University, a member of the Economics–Philosophy Initiative at the Paris School of Economics, and a member of Academia Europaea. Arrhenius has previously led the Franco-Swedish research program in philosophy and economics at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) in Uppsala and the Collège d'études mondiales in Paris.
Gustaf is best known for his research on ethical and political responsibilities towards future generations, the democratic boundary problem, and impossibility theorems for population axiology. His interests are highly interdisciplinary, bridging the fields of moral and political philosophy with the medical and social sciences. Additionally, his research has delved into topics related to the structure of value and deservingness, measurements of equality and power, and equitable distribution of power. At the Mimir Center, Gustaf will work within the themes Human-Animal Relations, and Stagnation, Social Collapse and Durable Disorder. His research will include the question of what contributes to institutional longevity.
